Workspace Summary

Description
This model simulates how endothelial cells convert the mechanical stimulus of shear stress applied to the single-cell endothelial layer into chemical responses, including the generation of nitric oxide (NO). Subsequently, the shear-induced NO diffuses into the adjacent arterial layer, the smooth muscle layer, initiating a cell signalling pathway that modulates the vasoactivity of smooth muscle cells.
